Our customer Amy Dunn shares her insight on getting dressed for the workplace.
What is your current job position? What do you wear to work?
Attorney - sheath dresses and suits!
Have you ever had a mentor-figure? What is the best advice you have received?
I was fortunate to have Sarah Weddington, the lead attorney for Roe vs. Wade as my mentor at the University of Texas at Austin. She wrote my letter of recommendation to law school, and I am forever grateful for her. She blazed a trail for so many women to move forward and up as attorneys, and it is my sincerest hope I can do the same in my own way.
How did you come across Nora Gardner?
I first saw your brand on Instagram. I love social media because it provides and opportunity to connect with people and brands that you might not have otherwise in “the real world.” I love the bold color options, feminine style and simplicity (that’s a good thing) of Nora Gardner’s pieces. Elegant and timeless.
What are the main things you look for in your work clothing?
Dressing up is a sign of respect, so I always try to add a little dazzle into my routine. I also work long hours, so I need clothes to be comfortable. Call me old school, but I still love a solid sheath dress. It stands out in an office full of suits but still blends in with the professional vibe.
How do you deal with stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Health, nutrition and fitness are essential to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I always carve out time for myself to travel and go on epic hikes—it’s a bit of a reward for my hard work. I’m trying to visit all the National Parks in the United States, and that’s been a healthy and fun goal!
